Dixie Noormus (@SpiralSwinging) reported@ironwheal @riotgames Hey buddy, I definitely don't think it's ok, and find it unethical. But it's probably not illegal because you almost certainly agree to allow them to specifically do these types of modifications to your system. Like Sony rootkit DRM issue was it was undisclosed completely.

Velvex Vancreed (@VelvexVancreed) reported@waltercool11 @InfoHippo @riotgames and actually now I've learned more about it. it doesn't even break anything it updates protected code making the unauthorized hardware frees up and crash
-
pbk_8a7x5u (@pbk123461) reported@riotgames ok thats not the issue, what if the person was falsely flagged, its fair that cheaters pc's get bricked, but what about like this potentially breaking in an update, and it bricks normal people's PC's, this is insane ngl

Karl Alex Pauls ⚛️ (@KarlAlexPauls) reported@Rowojon @riotgames If you understand better what’s going on then you should be able to explain it. Do not think you can hand wave this away. A direct memory access card reads from the instructions to mirror parts of main memory which contain Valorant instructions (copyrighted) and memory. The Riot software issues instructions to Windows IOMMU which disable the DMA devices for all operations. This exceeds the scope of their interests (the Valorant code and memory space). DMA devices used only for legitimate purposes may have a cause for action. The civil standard of evidence most likely leans in Riot’s favor, and the harms are not irreparable.

Arythxni (@arythxni) reported@crash @riotgames 18 U.S. Code § 1030

R (@Ravushimo) reported@Olley83513831 @crash @riotgames Basically every modern component in your pc use DMA and is compatible with IOMMU, guess why DMA cards that are used to cheating only causes issues. Because they are trying to access memory they are not supposed to. That's why its blocked, its not new tech.

Marcus Walters (@marcus_walters) reported@ArsVampyre @riotgames Yes they do. I have one. It has no legitimate use on a gaming rig, and in fact would be dumb to use for that… but anyway… Also you’re not correcting me, you’re assuming you’re smarter which is obviously a mistake on your part. Bypassing IOMMU or attempting to al RIDs is where the problems arise. Not just use of the controller. Spoofing to undercut those protections cause the fault, nothing else. Bypassing security through spoofing is. It helpful or common practice, not cheap and is dishonest to represent as legitimate.
-
Tokyo Morose (@LTsarcasm) reported@304FoundNot @SpookyGhost81 @riotgames Problem is the cheats are using either bypass hardware like the DMA cards or compromised drivers to be a rootkit themselves. You simply can't fight the fire without fire yourself, the only ACs with any real success rates have to be kernel level. It sucks, but can't be solved.

Steven Agullo (@StevenAgullo) reported@ESebasssss @riotgames Who is crying? My point is that they contradict themselves in the same post. Even tho I do think that their software shouldn’t cause issues to any hardware on purpose.
-
Jay (@iso20xl) reported@Restive @crash @riotgames They aren’t destroying anything though. Cheaters are doing that to themselves by not following the legally binding rules and requirements to play the game created and owned by Riot Games🤔
-
Milk (@MILKjuiceies) reported@crash @riotgames Genuinely put your ***** on the hottest waffle iron on this planet. I don't condone cheating but I also don't condone blowing up someone's PC cuz your anti-cheat "suspects" cheating. Vanguard literally ***** your PC sideways and spits on you afterwards. GET A GRIP.
-
Not A ****** (@BIG_PARMENIDES) reported@fred6279 @riotgames I’ve had problems with anti-cheats as well. If I want to play Rivals (rare) I have to unplug my elgato pedal that I use for PTT because I guess people use them to toggle cheats or something. Really annoying but whatever. Cheaters are ruining online gaming and it’s more widespread than most people realize.

Gensoukyou1337 (@Gensoukyou1337) reported@riotgames Cheating issues aside, are you not worried that you'd be causing another Crowdstrike? One bad update might do something so much worse than bricking cheat devices...
-
Ach,Gerrible! (@Ach_Gerrible) reported@crash @riotgames "cheating devices" yeah, retard, that's called a computer you paid for. "er, actually, he didn't shoot and kill your husband, Ma'am; he unalived your 'cheating device'"

Gabre (@Gabremon) reported@riotgames Who coded it? Because if it was an in-house job, I'm sure it will so ehow break and cause massive issues. You guys cannot code a functoining game launcher, but I'm supposed to assume this will work fine?
