It was advertised before the game released, it was on the steam page as a requirement and when it first launched was needed. Issues arose where the game was unplayable when doing that so they lifted it temporarily so people could play.

HD2 did not have mandatory psn login nor was it sold as such. In the past, Sony have stated to use the nearest country that does offer psn as your psn register country. But-

However Sony did not care once about hd2 until 2month in where they forced the mandatory psn. During the height of the server overpopulation issue. No one attributes hd2 success with Sony.

Did they fired the activists staff? Did they removed the region lock? Did they stopped nerfing everything? Did they removed PSN requirement?
