@ghoulishchi The depression itself is just from the internet and the current state of everything and anything in this world. Sure, I’d imagine a few cases where the depression was caused by things on TikTok, but an issue with social media and the internet. Not Tiktok.

The culture of the game is ****** too. Everyone either camps in a corner with a deployable shield or uses some broken class they found on tiktok because if they lose they go yell at their mom

@CatholicaPuella TikTok is not a social issue. It's a geopolitik Intel issue. The social issue is how dumbed down and discombobulated we've become as a geographic cluster of people.

@RealAlliKat I thought the issue with TikTok was it being Chinese owned? Thats the reason here in Canada at least.

@mwala_harry @CGMeifangZhang But if they forbid US companies from working with tiktok then the app would be taken down from apps store worldwide.

The tiktok congress meeting is one of the most pathetic & cringy things I’ve ever seen. They didn’t even let the CEO answer there questions. They didn’t care what he was saying at all. And with all the problems in the country, they choose to focus on a social media app. Pathetic

@JackWeb53085992 @JillSaidIt The right-wing lies to the public and to the government and uses those lies as excuse for horrible legislation. China has not lied to us about TikTok TikTok has not lied to us about what data they store. The liars are the problem. China is not the demon here.

I used to think that the idea of leaders who don't have any idea about technology was a third world problem but watching the U.S Congress grilling the TikTok CEO am convinced it's universal. The Congressional leaders have no idea how Tiktok works. So who is financing the ban??

The only problem they have with tiktok is because it's a chinese company...

@zzbenz The biggest problem ime is the legislators overseeing it have zero grasp of the tech underlying it. One of them today was asking if tiktok can access the WiFi. He had no understanding of the basic network topology he was using to access the internet. His questions made no sense.

insane that they could not get competent people on that tiktok hearing board. there are genuine issues with tiktok and NONE of them were raised

@nexus1111 @abcmelbourne @tiktok It’s the problem when things go haywire because no-one has properly assessed you first, and then you need to pay to clean up the problems. Unfortunately we’re seeing it more and more.

  • alegvrcia

but more importantly why is banning tiktok the biggest focus rn and not all the actual issues in our country

  • Smokin_Fish

Why as a country is our first priority TikTok over genuine problems?

@marianarey3s @sevsohouston @aliyahInterlude I can agree on this take, but there’s still Insta, youtube, Facebook. Plus, those 3 all have short clip formats just like tiktok. Unless they do something about that too I don’t think their goals is to fix addiction. They wanna control tiktok but know they can’t, so down it goes.
