Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:
-
ඞ
(@TheYTuber) reported
TikTok is currently flooded with porn and gore. The slideshow feature seems to be almost completely unmoderated, posts get 1M likes. Meanwhile, YT Shorts algorithm is broken for many users - suddenly started to recommend the same very weird children’s content over and over only.

@DBGeeWrites @whosthistyler Same. I am terrified of the security issues of Tiktok and have zero interest in seeing videos of 13 year old kids twerking which is... ick... I never liked Instagram much.

@Kn1ghtOfCups Sure! The problem is... all of them are unethical or in support of the extreme right at this point. Squarespace is Israeli, and TikTok follows Chinese policies of surveillance. And the list goes on and on. The only one I can think of is Tumblr but it's terrible for self-promo

@TVAnswerMan Oh, this has been true of video on the internet since the 2008 election. Success of YouTube and TikTok creators built around "authentic" content, not highly produced. It's an aspect of internet-native video that's working it's way via trial and error into legacy media produciton

Tragic that one of my favorite Tiktok accounts was banned. Where will I get my fix of people tooting during their chiropractic adjustments now?

Youtube shorts need to stop randomly showing me clips of Andrew Tate or Ben Shapiro. They need to fix their algorithm smh 🙏 Tiktok, in that context is so much better as they only provide more of what I already consume.

I’ve noticed a growing trend of people on Twitter (and tiktok) correcting the tweet because they misread it and didn’t slow down and double check before rushing to be a reply guy and honestly it probably would just be better if this website disappeared entirely

@itsvagg The issue got viral on some korea blog like naver and pann. You can search in Pannchoa I think kpop companies realize this phenomenon and add more caution to TikTok challenge. Just like Inkigayo sandwich erased after the same controversies.

@ZeddYakuza Exactly! Like TikTok. But the issue with your last statement is that the money would eventually have to leave the platform because people would still have to liquidate those “rewards” and spend in real life.

But the dystopian scenario opens a nice market opportunity for the right entrant--think of how Instagram blew up after Flickr’s decline, or TikTok after Vine shut down. Scuttlebutt is that some Twitter alums might be working on something like this.

@unusual_whales Who would have thought they'd reward the people who actually show up to do their job instead of those sitting on TikTok and social media all day instead of working.

Nicole Crowell ➡️Creative Strategist / Media Buyer
(@nicolecrowell00) reported
Many traditional media buyers are testing TikTok right now and simply aren’t able to dissect creative properly. Their ads suck. And they don’t understand why. Nor will any “account hacking” will fix it. This is a problem. 🔥💸
