One would think you need to have some level of knowledge before you go about questioning others on what you believe to be true. I wonder, do they use social media of any kind? The issues they mentioned are clearly more widespread than just on TikTok.

@EVargasTV I've found a community on TikTok. I'd miss it a lot. Something will rise to take it's place; developers are already working on it.

TikTok ownership and server locations are details. Data can be moved easily. The real problem is that their servers (like too many others) contain data that should never leave the privacy of our phones and computers. We need legislation to limit harvesting of our private data.

but more importantly why is banning tiktok the biggest focus rn and not all the actual issues in our country

there should be an inquisition not only on Tiktok but also on all social media platforms and on how better they can protect our data. It is not only Tiktok that has that kind of problem.

Say what you want about TikTok, but the only reason this is even an issue brought to the congress floor is because they’re scared because they can’t control it. They don’t get to decide what is shared and what isn’t. They’re TERRIFIED.

  • LinDbly
    Lin (@LinDbly) reported

Im confused. The TikTok issue is because they are controlled by China? Correct? Not China owned, but a Chinese national owns it? Right? Knowing the Chinese ppl don’t have rights, hence China controlled. Right? So we allow access to our personal info. Yeah, we’re dumb!

So 1 think TikTok users are use to is getting accounts deleted for not following rules and then having to start from scratch they have no problem deleting all meta related apps. An are and I bet continue too.

I only have TikTok for Adele, in times of the pandemic I never downloaded the app and well now I have a problem because I think it's like Tw that I post stupid things that nobody reads and then I comment on random videos and it turns out that the comment has thousands of likes 🫠

@marianarey3s @sevsohouston @aliyahInterlude I can agree on this take, but there’s still Insta, youtube, Facebook. Plus, those 3 all have short clip formats just like tiktok. Unless they do something about that too I don’t think their goals is to fix addiction. They wanna control tiktok but know they can’t, so down it goes.

  • griccs

I think banning tiktok may just fix everyone

@GlassGalahs @DOMtheB0MB @Blackkout__ You are speculating with zero evidence. We already have proof that Facebook has manipulated the algorithm to affect our moods, just as an example. Is there any evidence TikTok has done so? Otherwise it is an issue with social media generally, not TikTok.
