In fact, Helen Staniland (GC) has relied on a poll she had commissioned on the subject, the issue with that poll being - if I remember rightly - that it is a poll on people's attitudes to trans people that doesn't mention the word "trans" in the questions.

@timrchurch @TwitterSupport They don’t want to tip off the snake oil salesmen who create those “get a million followers!” systems to cheat the algorithms. So they remain intentionally vague. But basically, the algorithm adjusts your max number largely to slow people down.
