  @betty_egg The thing with the charts is that there’s a huge difference between the peak players, the times of day those peaks actually hit, and how long they hold those numbers. Marathon usually has two peak periods during the day: one in the afternoon and one before midnight (Eastern Time). Outside of those hours the player count is abysmal. You have to look at the average, not just the lowest of the low or the highest of the highs. Right now the 24-hour peaks are sitting around 5-6k most days (with the occasional temporary bump from a new mode or free weekend that shoots up to 15k then drops right back). That’s not “double the 3k” in any meaningful way for a live-service game four months in. Averages over the last 30 days are closer to 4.5-5k. Season 2 and the free weekend pushed it into the 30-40k range for a few days, then it fell straight back down. Same pattern every time. Our boy Paul Tassi has been clear that the majority of sales are still on PC (roughly 2:1 or higher PC-to-console, around 70% Steam). Console numbers are dwarfed by it; the complete opposite of Destiny. So there’s no hidden 10k+ console players propping up those peaks. What you see on Steam is the bulk of the active population. Calling a 5-6k 24-hour peak “top 2-3% of all games on Steam” is technically true if you include every dead asset flip and abandoned early-access title, but it’s meaningless for a $40 AAA live-service shooter that reportedly cost $200-250 million+. Top 100 games on Steam are regularly pulling tens of thousands concurrent. Marathon isn’t living there. Warframe and Siege took years to grow because they launched as (or became) free-to-play with constant iteration from a much lower starting point and far smaller budgets. Marathon launched as a premium title with massive expectations and a huge spend. Four months later the revenue is still only in the $50-60 million range before microtransactions. Retention exists for the hardcore group that stuck around, sure; but the overall audience collapsed and the temporary spikes never stick. That’s why the numbers look the way they do, and why the “it’s just a AAA problem / give it a year” framing doesn’t change the actual chart.

  @_iroira My pc restarts on its own when I'm playing XIV or Darktide or when I stress test my gpu. I can play warframe just fine thoigh so I don't think the gpu is the problem. I'm going to try cleaning it out later.

  @slumberingsinh i saw this complaint a lot with destiny, but the issue is there's no way to tell if someone is new unless they say so through voice/text chat. does warframe have a new player indicator or do you also have to tell people you're new?

  @gacha_tourist You’re actually a ******* idiot. It’s called live service games in general. Gacha is ONE type of live service game which is differentiated by its monetization. Have you never heard of WOW, Marvel Rivals, Warframe, etc?
