Dropbox Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • ChelivanOtt Chelivan Hebrusel (@ChelivanOtt) reported

Dropbox: "We noticed that you haven't added any files recently." Me: "This is surely unrelated to the fact that you hamstrung the number of devices I can install Dropbox on and want to charge over $100/year to 'fix' that."

  • tonydowler Tony Dowler (@tonydowler) reported

I started buying Dropbox pro when OneDrive let me down one time. When it comes to backups, my risk tolerance is zero.

  • shipkafan bruʇall morningstar (@shipkafan) reported

you know a ***** down bad when they use the kylah dropbox

  • natirebolledo Natalia Rebolledo (@natirebolledo) reported

Anyone else having issues with @onedrive? Two weeks getting messages that my archives have been corrupted and I have to restore my folders a week, losing a lot of work. I think I'll be saving all my files on Dropbox again.

  • Laurenjdonoghue Lauren Donoghue (@Laurenjdonoghue) reported

@snkravitz Indeed. 🙈 Yesterday mine melted down for a few hours starting minutes before a seminar I was to present in. Thankfully a suitable version saved to Dropbox, and it was a low key event, but the fright was real. 😓

  • Diabeartes Democrat Abroad (@Diabeartes) reported

@DropboxSupport Many, many questions! Working with your support team to resolve several issues with latest versions.

  • Miles_Lopez MiLo (@Miles_Lopez) reported

I have never heard of anyone else having internet this ******* slow. Probably less than 500 kb/s in my house. Takes 20 minutes to upload one ******* 15mb photo to Dropbox. Have to deliver over 1000 to my client. Unbelievable.

  • marvinwebb Marvin Webb, MBA, MS (@marvinwebb) reported

@DropboxSupport Hey there. hHave a new mac. Am having trouble setting up the connection to the download. It connects to the previous download of the old mac. Can you help with that? Am I missing a pathway or something?

  • natension nathan 💻 chpmnk.de (@natension) reported

@SimonGronborg That seems oddly familiar! I also shared the code and website assets via dropbox. And uploaded everything to the server via Filezilla. No version control. Simpler times. But also horrible to think about nowadays

  • taneishavirgo Taneisha Mitchell 🇯🇲in🇩🇪 (@taneishavirgo) reported

@HackingGavin I get the spokesperson for the govt calling it a server, but why do we when we know it’s literally just storage space. Not far from what Dropbox or OneDrive is. This one was just free for public access. Do we call these type services servers?

  • khooliha Kelly Hoolihan (@khooliha) reported

Some of it was saved, thanks to Dropbox, but not that Pacific Rim fix it WIP that I always meant to keep finishing.

  • dropboxes_kay kayla kay🥰 (@dropboxes_kay) reported

@zarkyzu @youngbluewinter @justbuyitlol What? I don’t even know her I was on the selling and buying thread and saw you trying to put her down. You must want angi Dropbox all you have to do is ask

  • s_meems Sameem 🪐 (@s_meems) reported

@hd_tsd I do wish it was a native cloud app so I didn’t have to worry about DropBox syncing issues if I edit on my phone, but given we’re gonna be in lockdown for awhile I won’t be trying to write on my phone while standing on the train anytime soon.

  • steipete Peter Steinberger (@steipete) reported

@nicklockwood @jspahrsummers I’m deleting this because now the error is also there outside of Dropbox. Probably some filesystem race.

  • dpaintersound Dustin Painter (@dpaintersound) reported

Curiosity question for all of you in the Twitterverse: has anyone else recently been having serious problems with #dropbox or is it just me? Syncing has become so slow the last two weeks it's practically not working. It's bad enough I'm tempted to switch to Google Drive...

  • what_alchemy Goblin tangled in the curtains under your window (@what_alchemy) reported

I mean functionally I’ll have to use one of my spouse’s terrible discarded tablets (I hate tablets!) and reset every damn password so I can access my own stuff (email, various websites, Dropbox, does iCloud even work on nonApple devices?) and I won’t have certain programs I need.

  • TheLegalCliche The Legal Cliché (@TheLegalCliche) reported

Turned ON FileVault encryption because why ******** did the company issue not have this on smh. If I’m gonna bring this work laptop into my private Dropbox-like scheme so I don’t have to fuss around for desktop wallpaper, I demand it be a secure device.

  • evanoconnell Evan O’Connell (@evanoconnell) reported

@dlknowles @smartin Get you but moving it onto something like Dropbox or Google Drive really probably is the easiest solution to get around the PC/Mac formatting issue. Assuming you have a decent internet connection it shouldn’t be much more time-consuming than moving it onto an external hard disk.

  • OwenMRoe Owen M. Roe (@OwenMRoe) reported

@blakeir I know it isn't the point of this post, but I love this guys argument against Dropbox. "I can already do this by manually setting up an FTP server on Linux! No way Dropbox is 100x more straight-forward & accessible!"

  • keddiejoh 🐝Aunt Bee (@keddiejoh) reported

@BillWhitten13 @AnnaForFlorida The mail is not trusted and many people did not feel comfortable voting in person. I voted by mail Florida. We have one dropbox in my county at the SoE office. It has security cameras on it and it’s monitored by the office there. I seriously don’t see the problem

  • YesShesGotMoxie Kristin Grady #BLM (@YesShesGotMoxie) reported

I'm so ******* frustrated I'm ready to break down crying again. My mom is the only one who offered to watch the video of the cops and I can't figure out how to explain to a 62 year old how to setup a Gmail. Dropbox is just on the friggin moon, so that's out. I'm so not okay.

  • bmaden Ben Maden (@bmaden) reported

@timsoulo @DropboxSupport they're full of "sneaky" when you're cancelling. AFTER I cancelled suddenly files I'd deleted returned... and the only way to fix it? you guessed it, resubscribe. I told them to fix it or I delete the entire account. Scam Alert.

  • hekuta_arts ⭐️hekuta⭐️ (@hekuta_arts) reported

@dayofpi always use dropbox, it’s easy to download for the client, ive had issues with google drive and then changed to dropbox and all my problems were solved :)

  • cryptodavidw David Wong (@cryptodavidw) reported

Dropbox has really failed hard, hard! For pictures. Been using google photos for free for years and it’s just so good and so cheap in comparison that I see no reason to use clunky (and slow to upload on phone) dropbox anymore (at least for photos)

  • PentagonRound RoundPentagon (@PentagonRound) reported

@conkoroonie The only thing I can think of is having "install unknown apps" in the app settings for dropbox or whatever internet browser you use, otherwise I wouldn't know why it's not working

  • DropboxSupport Dropbox Support (@DropboxSupport) reported

@tonydowler Hi Tony, we hope you don't mind us jumping in. We saw your tweet, and wanted to see if we could assist. Where exactly are you experiencing the sync issue? Is it safe to assume that you're referring to the Dropbox desktop app installed on your computer? Let us know.

  • webziggy Alan Ogilvie (@webziggy) reported

@DropboxSupport - terrible experience trying to use Dropbox Passwords. Long term Dropbox user, decided to try - installed app on Android, ok (it seems). Then tried install on Mac - though account recognised from already installed Dbx app, verification looping fail. #12083559

  • dalzielellis Dalziel Ellis (@dalzielellis) reported

@Dropbox What the hell have you done to the Dropbox I used to use with such ease??? You have now made it complicated, awkward and long winded! Don’t fix what ain’t broke is the saying! Very very disappointed. I will look for another system as Dropbox is now ridiculous! 🤬🤬🤬 Dz

  • jspahrsummers Justin Spahr-Summers (@jspahrsummers) reported

@nicklockwood @steipete The issue, briefly, is that when Dropbox encounters a sync conflict, it moves files aside. This causes issues if it chose mismatched versions of different objects (files) in the .*** directory. My recommendation would be, just move the repos out. They're already synchronized.

  • phoerious Janek Bevendorff (@phoerious) reported

@floemuc @yamenajjour Nextcloud is using csync, which can probably handle it. rsync can handle it, too, no problem. Amazon Photos has unlimited storage, but after a few thousand files it hogs 100-300% of my CPU just to check if everything is in sync. I am giving Dropbox a try right now.
