    @etrade put a restriction on my account. No phone call nothing and I didn’t figure out til l this morning. I have $45k in market value of options open. They won’t even let me close.. it’s been 2 hours into trading desk. But margin team isn’t client facing? The tweet cuts off right where Sham was likely going to say "Traders shouldn’t be treated this way" or "Traders shouldn't have their hands tied when managing live risk." Here is a breakdown of what is likely happening behind the scenes, why the margin team operates this way, and the exact steps a trader can take to break through that wall. Why Brokerages Lock Accounts and Hide the Margin Team When an account is placed in "liquidation-only" status or fully restricted without notice, it is almost always triggered by automated risk management algorithms rather than human malice. The Non-Client Facing Margin Wall: The "margin team" or risk department at major brokerages like E*TRADE (Morgan Stanley) is intentionally walled off from direct client phone lines. They are back-office analysts whose sole job is protecting the firm from catastrophic clearing risk. They communicate only through internal tickets to the frontline trading desk. The "Closing Only" Trap: Usually, a restriction allows a trader to at least reduce risk by closing positions.     @etrade E*TRADE is a brokerage built in 2007 and maintained by carrier pigeons. Awful communication, archaic platform, and customer service that exists only in legend. Don’t switch for the bonus. If you’re already there, leave—you don’t know what good service feels like.

    @etrade @MorganStanley absolute disaster today, could not close all my covered calls, will end up assigning a stupid amount of shares and costing me an asinine amount of money in taxes . Couldn’t trade on platform, called and they couldn’t place the trades. Etrade fix this. $ms

    @etrade I print PDFs of portfolio positions, and one of your incompetent web developers made a major change that screwed up the formatting. Left image was from 2026-04-02, which has been the same format for many years, perhaps decades. Right image was today (2026-04-06), where the dropdown for Account and View now hogs up precious vertical space. Please revert to the previous style ASAP. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

    @etrade why doesn’t the download feature in the portfolio view work at all? I’ve tried two different OS (windows and OSX), different browsers and so on. Keep getting “invalid rewuest” errors showing up in the csv file. This has been ongoing for months

    @coinbase I just initiated a stock portfolio transfer from E*TRADE to Coinbase. E*TRADE was able to get on the phone with me and verify the outgoing transfer and making sure that I got my reimbursement for the fee that they had charged me. I can’t get a single human person at Coinbase both on chat or phone to assist me about the transfer verification. I feel like I should transfer all my **** back to @etrade because their customer service is superior.

I’ve called them every day, they say they fixed it but same problem the next day. I’ve been on the phone with them for 1 hour as I type this
