@GaryNTrader @IGcom You're lucky. A spread bet account I had in the early days gave me a £130,000 margin call. They had an issue with where to put the decimal place with a single small position. Made me sweat for a few minutes.

@TomCullingham @IGcom Their response to my "stop messing" was to ignore me, and to my complaint was a right old mouthful of feathers. I've now moved to Spreadex. Although their spreads are wider, their web interface is better (eg. you can see how much margin is associated with which position).

@TomCullingham @IGcom I think underlying these problems is almost a contempt for the customer - a lack of willingness for those that know about these things to talk to the affected customers. So I was trying to close positions that they'd opened, and they'd close positions I'd opened.

@TomCullingham @IGcom I wondered about that! No, it was some bad data that screwed their systems for a bit. Unfortunately it exposed their utterly useless customer services and technical teams. So my positions were screwed around with for several hours. So lucky it was a quiet day, but I'm off.
