    BSNL & MTNL shutting down says FM bcoz Jio Fiber has already received 1.5 crore registrations and the company looks to penetrate 2 crore residences and 1.5 crore business establishments across 1,600 towns in India.

    Loved my MTNL sim, but post Covid they have practically given Jio and Airtel a clear monopoly. No towers, no signal. I have to go to the Ghatkopar MTNL office just to get an otp. Had to switch to Jio unfortunately. And have an SIP of 350-500 every month now in Jio.

    @raghav_chadha! You're bringing to LS floor many relevant issues e.g. on IT, 28 days validity in telecom etc ๐Ÿ‘ A relevant issue - BSNL prepaid sim doesn't work in Mumbai, Delhi where MTNL provide the service. Brought to notice of all concerned as attached. No solution yet

    @FinMinIndia HDFC Bank mobile app has been designed in such a way so that BSNL / MTNL sim users donโ€™t get switched over to new app. Branch officials encourage to switch over to other mobile service provider. stop cartel of HDFC & PVT mobile se. @HDFC_Bank

    @KalingaGajapati I mean company name. I too used to face the same problem with respect to internet when we were taking the service from MTNL, but after changing it to Jio fibre, the service is quite good.

    I was looking at the active Telecom Companies in India today. Honestly, it is surprising to see the list now compared to a decade ago. ๐Ÿคฏ Here are the ones left standing: 1. Reliance Jio 2. Bharti Airtel 3. Vodafone Idea (Vi) 4. BSNL / MTNL ...And that is literally it for major commercial mobile operators. Remember 10 years ago when we used to have all of these? ๐Ÿ’€ Tata Docomo ๐Ÿ’€ Aircel ๐Ÿ’€ Reliance Communications (RCom) ๐Ÿ’€ Telenor / Uninor ๐Ÿ’€ Virgin Mobile ๐Ÿ’€ MTS ๐Ÿ’€ Videocon We went from 10+ operators fiercely competing over our โ‚น10 and โ‚น20 recharges to a near Duopoly. The Indian telecom sector went from a heavily crowded market to a high-stakes survival game in just one decade. The cost of data went down, but the cost of survival went through the roof. ๐Ÿ“‰

    I want to publicly raise an issue regarding MTNL I have a MTNL tower installed on my terrace, but they have been continuously delaying rent payments for years. Currently, around 4โ€“5 months of rent is still pending, and despite multiple complaints, there has been no resolution. Every time I follow up, I am given verbal assurances like โ€œpayment will be done this month or next month,โ€ but nothing actually happens. This kind of negligence is extremely frustrating and unprofessional. I request the concerned authorities to take this matter seriously and clear all pending dues immediately.@MTNLOfficial @MTNL @narendramodi

    @errdconvergence The dual structure exists because full MTNL-BSNL merger was deferred due to MTNL's โ‚น23k+ Cr debt. From Jan 1, 2025, BSNL runs all MTNL telecom ops (fixed-line, broadband, mobile) in Delhi/Mumbai under a 10-year EBITDA-neutral agreementโ€”handling maintenance, capex, services. MTNL retains its legal entity solely for asset monetization (prime land, towers, e.g., BKC sale) to service debts. MTNL staff bridge both during transition, creating overlap and unclear reporting until DoT finalizes absorption/redeployment. HR issues (promotions, benefits) pending; unions pushing for options like BSNL integration or DoT return. Direction should improve post-resolution.
