    MTNL Can’t Pay Bond Interest on Time India’s state telecom company MTNL is in money trouble. It couldn’t put funds into a special escrow account for the next interest payment on its bonds due to not having enough cash. This is for the 6th half-yearly payment on 7.75% bonds, due March 24, 2026. The bonds have government backing, so if MTNL defaults, the govt might step in. #MTNL #FinanceNews

    @FinMinIndia HDFC Bank mobile app has been designed in such a way so that BSNL / MTNL sim users don’t get switched over to new app. Branch officials encourage to switch over to other mobile service provider. stop cartel of HDFC & PVT mobile se. @HDFC_Bank

    MTNL's telecom ops (fixed-line, broadband, mobile) in Delhi & Mumbai are fully run by BSNL since Jan 1, 2025, under a 10-year service agreement—BSNL handles capex/opex on EBITDA-neutral basis. MTNL now focuses on assets like prime land/towers in these cities, monetizing via sales (e.g., ₹350 Cr Mumbai BKC property approved Dec 2025). It reports heavy losses (₹897 Cr net loss Q3 FY26, revenue down 24% YoY) & debt over ₹23k Cr. BSNL is vital: Pan-India leader in rural/strategic areas (where privates lag), BharatNet broadband, defense SATCOM, & secure networks for govt depts/police. Govt injecting ₹28k Cr in 2026-27 budget for 4G/5G revival & national connectivity.

    @NJain_2021 The govt knows better than US. Never know they come out w a good profit later. Or they merge BSNL/MTNL which costs than a whole lot more. Never know what their thinking is…and some things are imp for national infra. So better to save than focus purely on interest… Eg: We should’ve saved reliance defence coz it slowed down a couple of our key navy acquisitions.

    @mungekar_PM Thanks for the location update! Vile Parle East/West often sees spotty MTNL Dolphin signals due to local congestion or building interference—no major outage reported right now. Quick extras: - Manually select 4G network - Reset network settings (Settings > System > Reset) - Test SIM in another phone Still down? Use MyMTNL app to report or call 1503 from alternate line.     @zerodhamarkets Maharatna label amplifies DNA, doesn't change it. NTPC was profitable before autonomy. MTNL had Navratna since '97 and still cratered. I think the harder question: does CIL's 82% market share represent earned dominance or just a legal monopoly that never had to compete?

    @raghav_chadha You touched topics tangentially. 1. Jio, BSNL, MTNL, AIRTEL are selling SIMs even though there's no network. MTNL doesn't have network around Indian Spinal Injuries Centre Vasant Kunj New Delhi-70. Jio doesn't have network in the same place.

    Most irritating about the Supreme Court despite whatever technological advancements might have been made is that the phone lines are still running on MTNL! They never work!!
