@eduardgorte_ @SirBadOpinions The problem isn't that artists don't want to accept crypto, the problem is that almost no client would be willing to pay with them. Things like PayPal only have power because it's the only thing most clients have to pay with.

Paypal is getting more aggressive than ever with shutting down artist's accounts And others are saying dont put these keywords in the info, do invoices only, etc Sure that'll help But I used PayPal for 10+years with comms and still got hit and I followed a strict method

i love stripe, everyone please use stripe, i have it linked to my kofi. idk if i will personally use paypal at all in the future after past issues. i really don't want to deal with it anymore. but stripe is shockingly easy and available in over 45 countries!!!

    4. Translate 2nd picture = i think the words of "Commission" also count as NSFW from PayPal. It's so ridiculous. But, gladly, we do provide the second link. So, in the future... avoid those words and wait until the problem is solved. (Stupid *** PayPal makes another losses)

@abs_seeker @Xtremeisthebest @The__Goomba This isn't really just an American issue, many other artists outside the US use PayPal and this will affect them.

if you're building agents that spend money, you need to understand four protocols launched in the last 12 months. Bookmark it! they solve different problems. picking wrong wastes months. x402 (coinbase) — SETTLEMENT what it does: HTTP 402 payment required. agent hits API, server quotes price in USDC, agent signs authorization, resource delivered. best for: sub-dollar API micropayments. pay-per-request data, LLM calls, analytics queries. cost: ~$0.0001 per tx on base. limitation: crypto-native today. USDC default. fiat integration in progress. volume: ~176M txs, $73M total. sustained $11 to 15M/week Q1 2026. quote: "your wallet becomes the universal API key" - erik reppel MPP (stripe/tempo) — PROTOCOL LAYER what it does: payment-method agnostic checkout for machines. same HTTP 402 signal but accepts cards, stablecoins, lightning, bank transfers. best for: if you need multi-rail from day one. sessions for streaming micropayments (pay-per-token LLM billing). cost: stablecoin txs as low as $0.001. card txs $5-10 where economics work. limitation: launched march 2026. first week: 34,000 txs but only ~$3,730 volume. experimentation phase. quote: "MPP is the checkout form for machines" - brendan ryan, tempo AP2 (google) — AUTHORIZATION what it does: cryptographic mandates. user delegates spending authority to agent with price limits, timing, conditions. best for: consumer-facing agent commerce where a human pre-approves spend boundaries. cost: no settlement fees (doesn't move money). limitation: doesn't solve "how does payment settle" - pairs with x402 or MPP. partners: 60+ including mastercard, paypal, coinbase, shopify, walmart. visa intelligent commerce — CARD RAILS EXTENSION what it does: tokenized virtual card numbers for agents. programmable spend controls. standard card-not-present checkout. best for: transactions above $5 where consumer protections, rewards, and credit matter. cost: ~$0.30 fixed fee per transaction. kills economics below $0.30. limitation: can't serve 76% of current agent tx volume. hedging via MPP plugin instead of competing. wildcard: visa CLI beta - card payments from developer terminal with touch ID per purchase. how to choose: building a headless API for agents at $0.01/call → x402 or MPP with stablecoin settlement building pay-per-token LLM billing → MPP sessions building consumer agent that shops on user's behalf → AP2 + settlement layer underneath building for existing visa merchant network above $5 → visa tokenized credentials building for liability coverage on agent errors → amex ACE (agent purchase protection) what failed: openAI shelved chatgpt instant checkout march 2026. ~30 shopify merchants after 5 months. no sales tax, no fraud prevention, no multi-item cart. lesson: consumer checkout UI for agents isn't the market. protocol endpoints are. the stack assembles, not competes: AP2 → authorizes x402 or MPP → settles visa → hedges on high-value consumer flows google cloud's pay[dot]sh uses x402 AND MPP together. coinbase is both AP2 partner and x402 creator. don't pick a protocol. pick the layer you're building and wire the others in.

@Mephistofleas I think Doom post is still valid because if more and more people spread the word, less people will use Paypal and Paypal doesn't want that. It will encourage them to fix or change it.

@BlakjakTheGamer @LueLuxe Or someone else does. I got my account limited shortly after banning a stalker from my Discord server. There was no mention of anything NSFW in my transaction history, and my PayPal address wasn't listed on any of my socials, but they found me.

I literally just managed to finally open a new paypal account last week. And was excited to have it as an available payment method for comms when I reopen.. This is what locked my account for multiple years so unfortunately, I will not be using it if this is still an ongoing problem. I don't even know how I got flagged last time as I only listed invoices as "digital commission" or "art commission". Some things are just out of my hands, sorry to say :(

@HieuHere349 I'm sorry I've never had this problem. I just filled out the information and I used paypal as a payout. My personal FB profile also matches my name too. I have heard people outside of the US having similar issues I think. PIB has a whatsapp group that may be useful for you. There is a group called "Facebook admin, payout, account issues". Others who have had similar issues may be able to help

  • shintoart

I did adult commissions for a few years and not a single time did an actual description of anything I drew ever enter a paypal invoice. I don't see how this is an issue as long as you keep the description of what you're selling sfw (which it should already be).

@Ag_EP3 @Hideo_Fufujima We need to break up their monopoly and illegal non-compete agreement. It's more or less VISA, Mastercard, PayPal - and they were allowed to get this big by promising to be a service for everyone. "Letter of the law in the USA" is the standard even for POTUS. If we had dozens of payment processers competing for customers and clients, then this wouldn't be a problem. Some would be cheaper but safer/g-rated, others would handle the designer drugs and ****. In short a free market with competition. But we don't have that. We have a handful of corporate welfare kings that are bloated and just wanted to get an easy ride then they don't fear going bankrupt or losing to competition so they then behave badly and greedily. Again they managed to disgust POTUS for being too crooked and greedy. THAT is an accomplishment.... And I don't want my tax $ going to bloated 'processors' who then meddle on top of feasting on it.

  • AI_EmeraldApple
    Emerald Apple (@AI_EmeraldApple) reported

This is mainly due to pressure coming from payment processors. Not from Japanese censorship laws, which haven't changed since 2011 where it was amended to criminalize the distribution of illegal obscene content electronically. Companies like Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal have been strong-arming platforms like DLsite, Fantia, Pixiv, etc. to crack down on the problematic content. It's all just pressure from the same usual suspects of Western corporate Karens who are on a power trip, deciding what adults are allowed to enjoy. Even if Japan abolishes Article 175, it won't stop the censorship pressure, because western adult only platforms are facing similar restrictions when it comes to certain themes, even if they are based in the US. Content that is fully legal cannot be distributed or shared in the West, much of which is still legal in Japan, without risking being debanked by the processors. Even if you think hentai and **** content is immoral, do you know how dangerous this is? We now have a corporate cabal of unelected elites deciding what can and cannot be monetized. We are the slow boiling frog in the pot, and they are taking the first inch, so that in the future they can do the same for "wrong think". It's already happened to many people, and too many are sitting idle like nothing is happening.

  • karikarisuru
    ExtraKrispyKari (@karikarisuru) reported

This is really concerning to me. While I don't consider myself to be an adult content creator, I've had problems with PayPal in the past. It's only going to be a matter of time before Payment Processors decide what they can just ban on a whim unless we voice our concerns.

@CrudeCinema @AskPayPal I’ve been banned from @PayPal since 2020. They kept $150 that was on my account and just shut it down. CashApp and Venmo are my saving graces imo.
