Aside from uaena, it seems most othem fandom blamed Kakao M for this issue. I would say, even tho I'm uaena, I won't defend them for their decision not to alert the artists/fans/users involved. They should be held accountable as much as Spotify. Stan the artist, not company.

@dolljhs_ @hibtsrlegends Kakao M is one of the largest co publisher companies of sk. I guess it's under melon so due to some issues all songs distributed by Kakao M have been removed from Spotify

so a policy issue? feels like once the domestic catalogue is negotiated, spotify & kakaom will renew the global contract too. maybe bcz spotify launched SK w/o a catalogue,expiration of global contract was near & acc to policy both contracts must be proceeded w/ at the same time.

*UPDATE* Kakao has released a statement, claiming their pre-existing negotiations with Spotify are ongoing for use of the domestic service (Spotify SK), received notice of the expiration of their license on February 28, and requested a renewal of their existing global contract.

The one who benefited from this spotify issue is youtube music / apple music. People started to use the app more and even subscribe the premium acc. Both Spotify and Kakao M didn't gain anything except for hate.
