SO kakao m took their songs off of spotify korea, to encourage people in korea to buy their streaming service instead. this pissed spotify off, who proceeded to remove all music distributed by kakao m INTERNATIONALLY. either as revenge or a blackmail attempt.

@leeknowkr @singvularitae I would not recommend doing this. Spotify streams are important for charts and also for artists to earn some percentage. Someone else randomly uploading their music isn't ethical. I am positive this issue will be addressed ASAP and the songs by the artists will be back.

@aryashea I was told that it was a money issue. Since Spotify opened in SK, Kakao M has been losing money so they removed the songs from Spotify to force people to use Korean platforms or platforms that pay more money.

@yongsoeunist Hold up before we all panic u guys, lol. First, unless more drops re: KAKAO M/Spotify, it could all end up being a temporary issue. I'm not sure so about VRVR moving over to KAKAO M now since they're still their distributor post-FACE it, but as of now, the boys should be fine.

@xoifelix @heyohsuga some kpop songs are being deleted in Spotify because the songs is not licensed by kakaom and then got taken down. the only artists that are fine so far is the big 3 and bighit ( some red velvet ost is gone tho)

why r u all blaming kakao m when i think it's spotify we should prolly blame? apparently, apple music kr has the same issue before (kakao m didnt let them have their songs on AM KR, same w spotify kr). but look at apple music, kakao m songs are still available internationally
