A thought: what if @Twitch teamed up with @Spotify to allow streamers to play any song they want during their streams and found a way to click on a link to take the viewer to an @amazon page to buy the album the song is on? Would that resolve the DMCA issue?

i feel that girl but idk what she expects? she was an employee at spotify when her and the other interns completed the project. maybe bc ive been in agency’s for the bulk of my career but some intern ideas become elevated as projects later down the line

@kenlowery I’ve managed to trim down my Amazon usage considerably, but losing so much of my music collection through moves over the years and a real lack of space has me still using Spotify, though I do try to balance it by using and buying through Bandcamp when I can.

@mattdebenton @Lunar_Cult @Doombrarian Exactly. And if all you can afford to spend on music per month is £10 on Spotify, people who have more disposable income shouldn't look down on them. Also, what you spend on music has no bearing on how much of a fan you are.

uh it's kinda hard to find orβit in spotify because of the β letter and because spotify dont really have 'suggested keywords' like youtube does... you still can't find them even you put 'orbit universe' :(( i hope this will not create a problem for new people trying to find them

@brendanshowbiz Spotify is the least paying streaming service and one of the only ones with a free version. Apple and Tidal pay the most per stream I believe. Maybe therein lies the issue. Should Spotify ought to get rid of its free version? Or maybe these apps should become labels themselves?

Spotify (and really every streaming service) can and should pay artists more. But, I have friends who have enough plays yearly that Spotify does help them to make some semblance of money that they otherwise would not be making. That said, buy physical media, buy merch, even MP3s.

Don’t blame artists for the systemic failings of a music industry that has been shutting down listeners + independent musicians for decades. I don’t use Spotify as a listener but as an artist whose work is exploited by streaming entities it’s better to get something than nothing.

@imranzomg I'm so glad someone finally mentioned this.. Its a huge issue and my Miles Morales crashes just swinging through NYC listening to Spotify.. God forbid I do photo mode, the entire database resets and my PS5 needs to be unplugged from the back. My XSX has zero problems like that.
