@bananafitz @WeyesBlood @soundscapesTO I'm just gonna focus on buying local if I can. So far I'm not sure I have a local music shop since I moved. I miss the ones down in the city. I stopped spotify after that Rogan thing so I've just got my old mix CDs now! Back when you buy 15 albums and add 1 song from each lol

@HwoodHorses @Amber_Coffman That sucks. I’m genuinely sorry about the ACA letting you down. FWIW I’m not defending spotify. I’m defending artists who rely on its pittance to make ends meet—not kiss its ring.

The @Spotify UI for podcasts is terrible. Why do I have to search for the podcast each time I want to listen? Why can’t it be included on my homepage or within my library? Especially after downloading an episode? Terrible.

They were kinda right tho. Ffs, I wish I had a debit card or money to my name so I can pay for stuff on Bandcamp, I really do. Unfortunately, I don’t have that rn, so streaming stuff on Spotify or any big music service is the only way I can really try to show love for artists.

@SpotifyCares our Spotify for artists deducted the number of streams by 1000+ and has frozen despite constant people listening. This issue has been happening for 15hrs now.

@RustyShackMusic Here's my first memory of Spotify: in 2009, it was a Europe-only service, required a EU IP address, and it was meant for their listening audience to get around the copyright issues with YT streaming in some nations, so more American music could be accessible.

Forget about any issues with streaming for a moment. It's OK that you posted your spotify wrapped. It's OK to embrace the fact that X amount of people like your music enough to stream it one or more times. It is. Those numbers aren't you worth or value.

(@TDK_Chiptune) reported
@chibitech I feel exactly the same. My problem, I found out a couple of days ago, is no-one can find me on Spotify because my name isn’t TDK but Mark TDK Knight - and I’m crap at the whole promotion thing too!! Really don’t know how to improve it.... happy to share ideas!

If you use Spotify, that's fine - not everyone has the money to support artists how they wish and that's totally understandable - but remember that the users aren't the problem. It's great that people wish to listen to their favourite artists and they should continue to do so.

@Easyy_ If you mean song recommendations, I’ll agree, and that’s why I prefer Spotify. Maybe my problem is I already have 2 streaming platforms I’m satisfied with, so I’m not really pressed to find/use another one. Plus YT music doesn’t look so appealing.

@wet2ocks You've got amazon music, right? I'd use that, it'll let you download a music collection onto your phone without having to pay for another service. I'm under the impression that they don't have as much content as spotify? But I used to use that when I had Prime and it was fine.

@getcerebral the critique of spotify is to highlight the ways in which their business model itself devalues art itself. listeners are obviously not the problem. major labels are leveraging this devaluation and extracting the upside via their financial stake in spotify for which they traded IP

@OsitaNwanevu If you listen to Spotify or any other music streaming service then you’re actively undermining musicians making a living wage. The first move here should obviously be to ban music streaming services or legally require they pay vastly higher rates to all their musicians.
