@ViCustomerCare Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing this email to formally raise a complaint regarding serious mishandling of my lost mobile number case at a Vodafone Idea retail store (Dewalchour, Haldwani-263139). My mobile phone was lost, and I duly registered an FIR for the same. With the FIR copy, I visited the VI store to obtain a replacement SIM on the same prepaid number. However, I was informed that my prepaid SIM replacement was rejected due to “KYC mismatch related to husband’s name.” I strongly object to this reasoning, as husband’s name mismatch is not a valid ground under DoT/TRAI KYC norms for rejecting SIM replacement when the primary identity details are correct. Despite submission of FIR, the store staff did not immediately bar my lost number, stating incorrectly that the number could be blocked only after prepaid SIM activation. This caused an unnecessary and risky delay, during which my personal data, OTPs, and digital accounts were exposed to potential misuse. They gave me the new sim for Rs 60/- and told lets see if kyc accepted or not. And asked me to wait for 2 hrs for activation if kyc not rejected. After the prepaid SIM did not activate even after several hours, I was again asked to visit the store. At that point, I was informed that the same lost number could be obtained only if I ported one number from another operator into Vodafone Idea, and simultaneously take a postpaid connection with an additional add-on SIM. I was left with no practical option and was pressured to accept this solution under distress. An amount of ₹1000 was collected, without proper written explanation or clear breakup of charges. I was also verbally informed that my number had been “blocked,” however no written confirmation, SMS, or service request number was provided to confirm the barring of my lost number. I believe this constitutes: • Improper rejection of prepaid SIM replacement • Delay in blocking a lost number despite FIR • Misleading information regarding blocking procedure • Forced postpaid migration and port-in dependency • Unfair trade practice under customer distress • Serious risk to customer data privacy I request Vodafone Idea to kindly: Provide written justification with official policy/rule reference for rejecting prepaid SIM replacement on the stated KYC reason. Confirm in writing whether my lost number was fully barred (incoming & outgoing) and from what exact date and time. Explain the necessity of porting a number from another operator to retain my original Number. Review the conduct of the concerned VI store and staff. Refund or appropriately adjust the amount collected if any policy violations are round. Provide assurance regarding data security and prevention of misuse. Please treat this as a formal complaint. If I do not receive a satisfactory response within the stipulated timeline, I shall be constrained to escalate the matter to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) / CPGRAMS portal. I request your urgent intervention, as the matter involves personal data security and potential financial risk. Thanking you. Yours sincerely, [Leela Bisht] [Lost Mobile Number- 7409901332] Alternate contact no-6001609837 [FIR Number- 9/26 & Date-09 Jan 26] [City-Haldwani / Store Location- Dewalchour.

@ViCustomerCare 2 days of total blackout. My SIM stopped working in Daman, and even after returning to Mumbai, I still have No Service. Your IVR is an endless maze with no option to speak to human. Visited the store today - they refused to help and told me to come back tomorrow.

My IDEA number has been stopped without consent or proper intimation. This raises serious concerns about customer rights and data safety. Immediate resolution needed, else I’ll be forced to escalate the matter. @Idea @ViCustomerCare

@ViCustomerCare Why does Vi aggressively prioritise LTE Band 41 even when its unusable? In my area, Band 41 frequently has no usable data, while Band 1 & Band 3 provide stable speed. Yet network keep forcing Band 41, making internet unusable. Is this expected network behaviour?
