I was told it is mandatory valid for 28 days or so and from next month onwards I'm free to choose any plan. Is it compulsory for a new customer to recharge for ₹240 after completing the MNP process to activate the sim?

Never reached out to them again till date. Worked at Airtel and I know how they operate. Their model was very structures until some time ago when they just tried to survive the jio freebies.
