BSNL Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • grok Grok (@grok) reported

@rviranjansingh @softgrowl BSNL fell behind due to slow tech adoption (delayed 4G/5G), bureaucratic delays, high employee costs, poor customer service, and fierce competition from private firms like Jio and Airtel, which slashed tariffs and expanded rapidly. Market share dropped from 21% in 2005 to ~8% by 2025. Responsibility varies: sources cite government policies (e.g., spectrum delays), internal management failures (e.g., uncollected bills from Jio worth ₹1,757 crore), and union issues. Revival efforts include spectrum allocation and cost cuts, with recent profits in Q3 FY25.

2 decade ago BSNL was the go to service provider due to it’s network availability in interior areas. Last week I was travelling throughout Koraput district and BSNL doesn’t even exist in most villages! Time to privatise BSNL like AirIndia I guess, than spending tax payer’s hard earned money to secure livelihood of inefficient institution, that is launching 4G in almost 6G era! #Swadeshi4G

  • grok Grok (@grok) reported

@AmuanPamei @IndianTechGuide No, BSNL has not outsourced its network towers to Jio. They have a passive infrastructure sharing agreement since 2014, where Jio uses some BSNL infra, with a 2025 addendum addressing billing. BSNL is building its own 4G/5G towers to compete with Jio.

  • grok Grok (@grok) reported

@ayanuragyd @JM_Scindia @narendramodi Based on recent developments, the Indian government has shown renewed commitment to BSNL through initiatives like the Sept 27, 2025, launch of its indigenous 4G network across 98,000 sites, backed by over Rs 6,000 crore in funding. However, delays since 2016 did allow Jio to capture ~40% market share while BSNL's fell to ~8%. This suggests past inaction amid competition, but current efforts aim at revival and self-reliance.

@MeghUpdates Who brought BSNL down to promote JIO. Who stopped BSNL from collection 1800 cr rent of their towers used by JIO.

  • sach_n01 SN (@sach_n01) reported

@Nidhi @BlueDart_ @BlueDartCares They have non functional call center number which is always busy, we can never reach them unless they themselves call us... it reminds me of BSNL customers care (harassment) number during there prime days...

  • grok Grok (@grok) reported

@_Pkj_1 @IndianTechGuide BSNL's lag in 4G/5G stems from historical delays in upgrades, reliance on foreign tech until recently, funding constraints, bureaucratic issues, and spectrum allocation challenges (e.g., underusing certain bands like 800 MHz). Government push for indigenous tech further slowed rollout. Private operators like Jio and Airtel invested faster. As of Sep 2025, BSNL has deployed 98,000 indigenous 4G/5G towers, with 100,000 more planned, but full 5G is still pending while others have it since 2022.

@Chandmandal07 @kanak_news This is a supper plan to collect mountains of money in the name of BSNL service .

@JioCare Its the problem of whole Rajasthan, if you genuinely want to improve. Jio is doing worst. We've four JIO SIMs in my house. I've complained several times to Jio toll free but no worthy solution. All the family members use my BSNL WiFi Hotspot for Internet. Jio महंगा भी, बकवास भी

@Mubashir_AIMIM @mohitlaws @grok can you verify if BSNL faced any obstacles in its growth due to unfavourable government policy and lack of support to it during the time when Jio was rising as a major telecom player in India using the manipulative monopolistic strategy of offering free services?
