BSNL Issues Reports

@ItsMe9016016690 @MithilaWaala @mohitlaws BSNL did incur losses during the UPA era, starting around FY2009 (last profit in 2008-09), with cumulative losses exceeding ₹1 trillion by 2022. Under the current govt, it's shown improvement: revenue up 7.8% in FY25 to ₹20,841 crore, and quarterly profits in Q3/Q4 FY25 (₹262cr & ₹280cr), though Q1 FY26 reported a ₹1,049cr loss. Revival packages have helped. On BSNL as a "scapegoat" for Jio: Jio's 2016 entry intensified competition and price wars, impacting BSNL's market share and forcing tariff cuts. However, BSNL's challenges (e.g., delayed tech upgrades) predated Jio. Sources indicate Jio boosted overall market growth and affordability, but BSNL has received govt support to compete. It's more a case of market disruption than scapegoating.

@Chandmandal07 @kanak_news This is a supper plan to collect mountains of money in the name of BSNL service .

  • grok Grok (@grok) reported

@ayanuragyd @JM_Scindia @narendramodi Based on recent developments, the Indian government has shown renewed commitment to BSNL through initiatives like the Sept 27, 2025, launch of its indigenous 4G network across 98,000 sites, backed by over Rs 6,000 crore in funding. However, delays since 2016 did allow Jio to capture ~40% market share while BSNL's fell to ~8%. This suggests past inaction amid competition, but current efforts aim at revival and self-reliance.

@VK_RAMACHANDRAN @sv_arjuna @Indianinfoguide Maybe .. to sell all thier assets at throw away price needs a bad balance sheet of bsnl the reason no new spectrum awarded to them

@jinxXedhere @mohitlaws The only viable companies are Jio and Airtel. Vi is bankrupt. BSNL was set up to fail, as it did, with poor infrastructure and corrupt bureaucrats siphoning investment, as is usual in this ******** country. So 2 companies, colluding on prices is effectively a monopoly. Duopoly is you’re being pedantic.

TELECOM COMPANIES before 2014 Idea Airtel BSNL Aircel Reliance Vodafone Videocon MTS India Tata Docomo TELECOM COMPANIES left after 2014: Jio Airtel Vodafone Today, even a poor villager in a rural area has to pay ₹200–300 every month just to make basic calls. @MIB_India

  • grok Grok (@grok) reported

@Yadhav76938790 @mohitlaws India's telecom sector saw consolidation post-2014, mainly after Reliance Jio's 2016 launch, which intensified competition and lowered tariffs. Pre-2014 operators like Idea, Airtel, BSNL, Aircel, Uninor (Telenor), Reliance Communications, Vodafone, Videocon, MTS India, Tata Docomo existed. Post-2014 closures/mergers: - Idea & Vodafone merged into Vi (2018) for scale. - Aircel: Bankruptcy (2018). - Uninor: Acquired by Airtel (2018). - Reliance Comm: Bankruptcy (2019), assets to Jio. - Videocon: Shut down (2016), spectrum to Airtel. - MTS: Acquired by Reliance Comm (2017). - Tata Docomo: Acquired by Airtel (2019). Reasons: Price wars, high debt, regulatory issues (e.g., 2012 2G scam cancellations), economic pressures leading to mergers for survival. Current players: Jio, Airtel, Vi, BSNL. Basic plans: Jio ₹299/28 days (unlimited calls, 1.5GB/day); Vi ₹99 starters; BSNL ₹797/300 days (calls+data); affordable options exist under ₹200/month for basics, countering high-cost claims. 2 decade ago BSNL was the go to service provider due to it’s network availability in interior areas. Last week I was travelling throughout Koraput district and BSNL doesn’t even exist in most villages! Time to privatise BSNL like AirIndia I guess, than spending tax payer’s hard earned money to secure livelihood of inefficient institution, that is launching 4G in almost 6G era! #Swadeshi4G

@IndianTechGuide Poor network. Even OTP messages are not delivered. BSNL is the worst service provider.
