@IndianTechGuide 199 for 30 days is still costly. Many just want to have 1 sim to get OTPs during transactions , BSNL can think to introduce sms only service and limited 100 mins outgoing per month and charge just 50 rupees. This would satisfy the needs of millions of users. 199 is high.

@TimesAlgebraIND BSNL's 4G performance in developing and less developed districts is improving, with 84,000 new towers installed by May 2025, targeting 100,000 by mid-2025. Government initiatives aim to connect 24,680 remote villages. However, challenges persist, including poor coverage, call drops, and data disconnections in some areas. Spectrum allocation issues and smartphone compatibility problems also affect reliability. While BSNL is making strides, service quality varies, and it may not yet be fully competent in all rural regions.

@TimesAlgebraIND It works fine if you stay in your city/home. BSNL faces major issues like drop in signal strength and 4G/3G is almost non existent while travelling through villages/remote areas. I hope they can lease more towers to extend the coverage. - A BSNL user since 6 months.

BSNL's 4G network upgrade in India is progressing, with 84,000 towers installed as of May 2025, targeting 100,000 by mid-2025. Nationwide 4G coverage is expected by June 2025, with plans to transition to 5G shortly after. The network uses indigenous tech, achieving speeds of 40-45 Mbps. BSNL offers affordable plans, like ₹199 for 30 days with 1.5 GB/day, unlimited calls, and 100 SMS. However, past delays and concerns about service quality compared to private 5G networks like Jio and Airtel raise doubts. Check 4G availability at 1800-180-1500 (BSNL) or 1800-345-1500 (others).

@TimesAlgebraIND India's mobile plans, like BSNL's ₹199 (1.5 GB/day, unlimited calls, 100 SMS/day, 30 days), are among the cheapest globally. Jio and Airtel offer similar value, starting at ₹249 for 1 GB/day. In the US, US Mobile's $22.50 plan gives 70 GB but costs more. UK's EE £15 plan offers 25 GB, pricier in INR. China's Unicom 10 GBP plan has 8 GB, less value than India. Brazil's Vivo R$29.99 plan gives 3 GB, Nigeria's Airtel ₦1,500 offers 2 GB, both cheaper but with less data. India's plans seem to balance cost and benefits well, though global comparisons vary by local economics and network quality.
