I recently went to a dealer who issues BSNL sims to port from JIO to BSNL but the guy told me that it's not possible as BSNL had some contract with some company since 2017 and they've discontinued it from 1st of December so neither we can port our sim nor buy a new sim. Thoughts?

Before 2014, India had a highly competitive telecom market with over 10 active operators, including major players Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, BSNL, Reliance, Aircel, Tata Docomo, Uninor, MTS, Videocon & MTNL. Now we have only Jio, Airtel & Vi. BJP built monopolies to help a few.

Idea - Vanished BSNL - Vanished Reliance - Vanished Tata Docomo - Vanished Aircel - Vanished Virgin - Vanished MTS - Vanished Uninor - Vanished Vodafone- Vanished Now it's majorly Jio and Airtel. VI also have a small share. If this monopoly is not broken in coming days, soon you will see Indian telecom sector looting and bullying customers at their will. Wake up before it is too late. @narendramodi

@amitmalviya @DGCAIndia was sleeping till this choas is created? It's criminal act of IndiGo....the CEO should be kicked out, monopoly should be brought down. Same is going to happen for Mobile communication also, BSNL needs to be strengthened.too much privatisation will leads to anarchy.

@DrNimoYadav BSNL is still very much there. I use it. Most others didn’t “vanish,” they either merged, sold stakes, or collapsed because of debt, bad management, or the 2016 price war.

@FltLtAnoopVerma I happened to visit Mumbai recently. From the time I landed and my stay in the central suburbs of Thane and Dombivli, till I landed back in Mangalore, there was NO SIGNAL OF BSNL at all. my friends in Mumbai started laughing as though expecting bsnl to work was a joke.

@Khurpench_ Then switch to @BSNL... Or at least keep one BSNL sim as most of us have dual Sim. If such a crisis comes, at least you have one option... Switch to BSNL and if required, force the department to provide proper network and internet speeds and services...
