@sonali0_ @JioCare 10 years with jio here. Tried to port from jio to airtel in January. They started calling me from 5-6 numbers after my porting request. Pleaded for staying. I continued jio and recharged for annual plan (because airtel pissed me off by showing their store being open on Google maps, which I found to be under renovation for the past 1 week), and regretting now. But then I checked with Airtel, BSNL (has only 4G right now in select cities, 5G will come after 7G comes in the rest of the world), and Vi users, whom I shamelessly ask what network they have when my Jio n/w fails (calls/sms work, no internet). Airtel is the only one that is most frequently found to work where jio doesn't. Problem is I am not sure if it works where jio is already working! 🤷 Most commonly visited places where jio internet "has to work" but doesn't - Isha Yoga center, Coimbatore Inside my bedroom Inside my office building Inside my office cafeteria Inside PVR/Cinepolis multiplexes Inside Malls, especially in food courts Railways stations Airside in almost all airports I visit Anyways, it's going to be airtel now from next jan. Done with @JioCare . Can't be fooled twice. 🙏

@Vidyut Affordable - yes, service reliability (at least for BSNL, never experienced MTNL) was not so reliable. If one faced issues, they were at the mercy of babus.

For 10 years, a financially struggling PSU, BSNL, forgot to bill Reliance Jio for using its tower network. The bill they forgot totaled 1750 Crores. Then the CAG pointed out this error. Reliance quietly paid up but not before the lapse was pointed out and the amount that was paid off is not known. Now if you file an RTI, you may be called anti-national and a out-of-job cockroach. The question is, who will pay for the interest on the outstanding amount that BSNL did not bill and Reliance did not pay? After all, that is not a small amount. If one was to consider 1750 Crores over a period of 10 years, it would come to 175 Crores per year. Calculating interest at 8% per year would lead to a loss of 770 Crores (calculating 175 Crores pending for 10 years, followed by 175 Crores pending for 9 years, and so on and so forth). 770 Crores isn't even without compounding the outstanding on an annual basis! Who will bear that loss? And was this billing error or deliberate? After all Reliance Jio is one of the leading telecom operators that is making massive profits and can easily afford to pay the interest. 770 Crores would be enough to pay around 5,133 people the promised 15,00,000.

@Wise Please update your advice to take international SIM for BSNL for IR pack. Now if you have BSNL international SIM then it will not work abroad. Rather you have to carry the normal SIM only. I am facing this issue right now.

Idea for @RahulGandhi election promises - revive BSNL and MTNL properly. Easy bookings, good coverage. If the private companies need to make a profit, limit it to 2g/3g, but keep their low budget phone plans alive. You can simply stand on stage and read out their recharge plan prices to get all the votes. Right now the public can't use them widely due to coverage issues. And this is not just for the poor. You can keep a phone no you mostly need for OTPs alive for a year in Rs. 321 if you're a Tamil Nadu police officer (as a comment below pointed out) - this could be extended to the poor! Loads of people who use separate numbers for banking and social media would vote for this.
