Unlike regular phones, it connects directly to satellites, allowing voice calls and SMS even in areas with no mobile network! The device is designed for government agencies, defence, emergency services, maritime operations and remote field teams. Due to national security rules, buyers must obtain approval from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) before purchasing. We just have online payments and do not have to stand in queue and do not feel the pain, which BSNL also now supports. Monopoly is the big evil, independent of whether Govt or Private.
