We have outages every day. Complaints made days ago remain unresolved. Sometimes monkeys are blamed for cutting fibre cables with their bare teeth, sometimes a JCB trudges along, breaking an overhead Fibre Cable, or someone plays a mischief and cuts cables for fun. At times back end equipment malfunctions and even if Fibre is connected well, there is no Internet. Now I am using 4G signals to write this. Why doesn't BSNL lay underground cables permanently, avoid all these issues. Or is a Starlink deal with BSNL about to come through for remote areas?

അപ്പു - Appu (@appooz) reported@badjourno Govt (&retd) employees get discount from BSNL, despite poor network. People retain it & additional # for active calls. Competition made BSNL outsource their fibre connection at the customer level and they're responsive than the PSU. Speed is still iffy.

Sushil Singh (@sushilsingh7688) reported@deepdownanlyz BSNL telephone exchange is in my area. A few years back the situation was that when electricity went off the mobile phone signals disappeared till the generator was turned on by them. After porting, never dared again for such fun.
