Gopal Patha (@The_Gopal_Patha) reportedFascinating post. Let me understand the argument correctly. The more government companies a Prime Minister creates, the more he has "worked for the nation." Nehru created 33, so he's a hero. Modi created zero, so he's a traitor selling the country. That's the logic. Okay. Let's run with it. Air India was born under Nehru. It was loved, protected and funded by every single government that came after him. Congress, Janata, BJP, back to Congress. Nobody touched it. Nobody fixed it. You know what Air India did in return? It accumulated ₹61,500 crore in losses. Every single rupee of that came from Indian taxpayers. Farmers, salaried employees, small business owners. Their taxes kept a bleeding airline alive for decades because letting it die would have been "anti-national." That is what your scoreboard celebrates. Not outcomes. Just creation. BSNL. Another government jewel. Created, protected, never reformed. It topped India's loss-making PSU list for years running. Consecutive years. While the government was pumping money into BSNL to keep it breathing, Jio connected 400 million Indians in under three years. A private company did in three years what a government company couldn't do in three decades. Tell me which one served the nation. Now let's talk about the "sold to friends at throwaway prices" line. Air India was sold to Tata Sons through a competitive bidding process. It was not gifted. It was not backdoor dealt. Multiple parties were invited. Tata won. And Air India, which was hemorrhaging thousands of crores annually from public funds, is now being rebuilt. New planes. New routes. Actual accountability. Compare that to the 70 years of government ownership where the losses just kept stacking and nobody resigned, nobody was fired, nobody answered for anything because it was government money so who cares. Here is the actual question your post refuses to ask. Of the companies that were created by Nehru, Indira, Rajiv, Manmohan and everyone else on your list, how many of them made money? How many of them served the public efficiently? How many of them innovated, competed, grew? Because if creating a government company that bleeds for 40 years is "working for the nation," and selling that same bleeding company after it has cost taxpayers lakhs of crores is "hollowing out the country," then your entire framework is built on sentiment, not sense. The government's job is not to run airlines. It is not to run telephone companies, hotels, steel plants and bread factories. Its job is defence, law, infrastructure, healthcare and education. Every rupee the government spent propping up loss-making PSUs was a rupee not spent on a government school, a government hospital or a road in a village that still does not have one. That is the actual cost of your scoreboard. That is what those 190-odd companies Nehru and Indira created actually meant in practice for ordinary Indians. Modi created zero new government companies. Good. The government has no business being in business. Disinvestment is not betrayal. It is basic governance. The only people who call it betrayal are the ones who benefited from government jobs in those companies regardless of whether the company made a single rupee of profit. Count the companies created all you want. Some of us are counting the losses.

pavan deep (@pavandeep330) reportedThis is exactly the reason we need bsnl or any state funded telecom network!! Duopoly ensures these players extract more profits from people by giving same amount of services.

Mohini Maheshwari (@MohiniWealth) reportedPhone Bills Going Up Big Time! Jio and Airtel plan to make mobile plans cost 15% more very soon. Smart people who watch money say this happens because only few phone companies left now. Also 5G costs them lots of money. See Airtel? Long long ago in 2014, you pay just 10 rupees to keep SIM alive and get OTP. Now same thing needs 349 rupees! When Jio came in 2016, many small phone companies like Aircel and Uninor closed shop. Now almost only two big bosses left. They can raise price easy. Video shows Airtel, Jio, Vi logos with money up-down lines. People feel sad and angry. Basic phone use costs more and more. Many say bring back BSNL strong so we have choice again.
