BSNL has introduced a ₹1.34 lakh satellite phone that enables communication even in areas with no mobile network coverage. Unlike conventional smartphones, the device links directly to satellites, making it suitable for defence personnel, disaster management teams, maritime operations, and people in remote locations. The satellite phone is a restricted device, and customers must obtain prior approval from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) before purchasing or using it. #BSNL #iPhone #BSNLsatellitephone

  • TattvamNews
Tattvam News Today - TNT (@TattvamNews) reported

BSNL SATELLITE PHONES: - Nothing particularly new or interesting here. This is 30+ year old proven Inmarsat GEO satellite phone technology (handhelds like IsatPhone have been around since the 2000s, with roots going back decades). Etisalat-backed Thuraya was already deploying similar sat phones which could be used globaly in the early 1990s-2000s. - At ₹1.34 lakh for the handset + high monthly rentals (₹3.5k to 11k+), it's damn expensive for regular public use. Makes sense only for real needs like mountaineering, defence, maritime, disaster response, mining or remote interiors where normal mobile coverage doesn't reach. For everyone else, it's overkill.

@Khurpench_ BSNL Mobile connection bina ghoos ke milta hai aur rail ticket bhi bna ghoos ke banta hai. Sarkari department ase hi chalte hain. 90% have no issue. If all stops paying, they will stop taking.
